Problems

Main Problem

In the U.S. gift card market, 10% to 19% of cards are unused. These funds are lost over time, sometimes the amounts are so small that the users have no place to spend them.

After defining this problem, the company decided to help users to collect these "leftovers".

These funds can then be paid out or used for other purposes.

Secondary Problem

The second problem we addressed while working on the app was related to companies and their use of gift cards.

It turned out that acquiring many gift cards for employees requires a disproportionate amount of time and effort.

Approach

At the time I was offered the opportunity to collaborate, the stakeholders only had general plans of what they wanted to do.

The research they provided me with was just market research available.

They did not have a defined target customer, specific business value, or prioritized work.

Discovery Phase

Tools i have used to define Persona, Value Proposition, Buisiness and User Problems, and Outcomes and MVP

Persona Workshop

We did a workshop on building a persona, (proto persona to be specific). We relied on data available on the market to determine our target user.

Value Proposition Canvas and Lean UX Canvass Workshops

We used the Value Proposition Canvas to define the value proposition.

Based on the results, we went through the Lean UX Canvas, which allowed us to see exactly what problems we need to solve and how the application must be built to bring benefits both to the business and the customer.

While completing the Lean UX Canvass, we defined several hypotheses, which we confirmed with the help of surveys and sometimes interviews.
